FINAL PRODUCTION.
ABOUT THE PRODUCTION.
Overview.
Toronto MetRobotics (TMR) is a multidisciplinary robotics collective based at Toronto Metropolitan University that comes together to design, develop, and manufacture competitive robots. Each year, the team is tasked with preparing a System Acceptance Review, showcasing the MARS rover, to compete in the University Rover Challenge (URC) in Utah.
Creative Problem.
The primary challenge was translating complex, highly technical engineering specifications and the MARS rover's capabilities into a visually engaging and easily digestible video format. The production needed to strictly adhere to the University Rover Challenge's submission guidelines while effectively demonstrating the rover's functionality to the judges against international competition.
Solution.
To achieve this, we combined dynamic cinematography to capture the rover's field tests with precise motion VFX to clearly outline specific technical subsystems and data points. This approach ensured the SAR video was not only highly informative and compliant with URC standards, but also a polished, professional piece of technical media that highlighted the team's hard work.
PROCESS & DEVELOPMENT.
APPLICATIONS & RESULTS.
This video served as the official System Acceptance Review (SAR) qualifying submission for the 2026 University Rover Challenge, representing the culmination of the team's engineering efforts on an international stage.
